Earthquake Safety on the Ring of fire

April 28th, 2024

Our guest this time was Cytus Lin from National Chiao Tung University, Taipei, an expert in earthquake safety working in engineering consulting in Taipei. In the aftermath of the recent 7.4 Richter earthquake in Taiwan, many questions were raised about building standards in the area. Although the aforementioned earthquake was among the strongest recorded in 2024, surprisingly few people died, and most buildings suffered minor damage. Mr. Lin took the attendees of this conference on a journey through the science of earthquake-proof architecture in Asia and how these design choices impact people’s daily lives.
