Analysis of the 2024 Japanese Elections

On Saturday, December 7th, YEFIP had the honour to welcome Harvard Professor Andrew Gordon and Dr. Koichi Nakano from Sophia University Tokyo to our forum. In an hour-long conversation, participants discussed a wide range of topics with both experts. From the turbulent background of the Japanese elections to its shifting foreign policy agenda as a result of domestic upheaval, we dissected the most pressing issues of Japanese politics. In reaction to breaking news, a part of our forum was also dedicated to the recent political earthquake in Japan’s neighbour, South Korea. Participants were able to gain valuable insights from Dr. Koichi Nakano's close study of the Japan-South Korea relationship.
