Latin-American Politics from a Local Perspective

Sao Paulo, Brazil

March 23rd, 2024

In this conference, two Harvard students from Latin America talked about their visions for the continent they call home. Bautista Martinez (Uruguay) and Frida Lopez (Mexico) offered insights into how ordinary people view the geopolitical developments that shape their countries. From China’s increasing influence to the weakening of Mercosur to the cycles of metamorphosis that Latin American democracies go through, a wide range of topics were addressed. The difference in perspectives between stable Uruguay and ambitious Mexico further added to the conference’s depth of scope.
